| Bio: |    For my new and newish friends...thought you'd like to know a little bit about Mandy. It's lengthy so...you were warned. Name: Mandy (not ever, ever has it been Amanda) Middle: Elizabeth Oh yeah...this is what I look like...and Ryan, too:  Birthday: July 21, 1978 (I'm a hopelessly romantic and deep Cancer with a kick-ass Leo sense of humor) Birthplace: Nashville,TN Hometown: Wilson, NC (age 4-11), Caswell Beach, NC (age 12-18), Raleigh & Cary, NC (age 18+) This is a pic of the house at Caswell...well it is the second house from the front. Ocean to the Right...Intercoastal Waterway on the Left:  Family: I have awesome parents who have been happily married since 1965 (sadly, I don’t have a good picture of them to post...will remedy that in the future). I have a brother, Chad, who is 11 years older than me. He and his wife, Alecia got married Oct 2000. Here is a pic of them:  Education: Graduated Salutatorian of my High School. Went to North Carolina State (after being accepted to UNC) and started out in Computer Engineering. After my first C++ class I thought better of things and changed to English. Got my degree in LWE (Language, Writing and Editing). While in school I wrote album and movie reviews for the campus paper (Technician) and was a DJ at the station. I also worked at a CD store. Occupation: After graduating college in 2000, had a hard time finding a job. Ended up taking a receptionist position where I work currently. After six months being “Pam”...they realized my music knowledge was outta control so they let me “code” music. Oh yeah, I work for a company that does research for radio stations nationwide. Anyway, I sit at my desk, crunching data and coding music all day. Coding music? Three Dog Night = 70s Pop, Prince = 80s Rhythmic, Nickelback = Utter Crap, etc. Residence: In 2003 I bought a house. Ain't it cute?  Relationships: I have only ever had three boyfriends. Well, I had lots of insignificant boys I “went with” (why did we call it that?) from 4th through 8th grade I guess. But my first real relationship started at the end of 9th grade. His name was Jeremy. It lasted through the beginning of my Junior year at NCSU. He was nice enough, but we weren’t meant for each other. What ultimately ended it was me finding out he was *gulp* sex-chatting with someone from high school *barf*. ANYWAY...then there was Chris. You can read about that relationship and up through the very beginnings of Ryan and I here. Oh and there was a 5-day fling in San Francisco in between Chris and Ryan ;) Ryan and I have been dating since June 2005. He’s pretty much the best thing ever and as he would say...I think we’re “all set” :) Update: We got engaged Dec 1, 2006 and then married on Nov 3, 2007. Pets: I have a cat named Misu...that is short for Tiramisu...my favorite dessert. She is stupid, but I love her because she isn’t very cat-like at all. She makes me laugh and sheds all over my house. Here is a picture my dumb cat:  Politics: I am a registered Libertarian. I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal. What does that mean? I want to keep the money I earn, I am pro choice on everything and I want people to think for themselves instead of being babysat by the government. Religion: I was brought up a Baptist (NOT crazy Southern Baptist), but I haven't been to church since grade school. I believe you can have a one-on-one relationship with God without the assistance of organized religion. Hobbies: Yeah not much goin’ on there other than constantly on the hunt for new music. Why do I LJ??? Read! Fandoms: You could check my “interests”...but here goes: TV – The Office (UK & US), Arrested Development, Significant Others, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Heroes, Lost, Supernatural, Ed vs. Spencer, Entourage, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Friends, SATC, Will & Grace, Nip/Tuck, The Riches, The Black Donnellys, 24,The Shield, Chappelle’s Show, Dirty Jobs (how hot is Mike Rowe??)...pretty much anything on Discovery, Discovery Health, TLC, National Geographic and History Channels. Movies – Amelie, Addicted to Love, The Graduate, Clerks, Dancer in the Dark, Fight Club, Flirting with Disaster, Friday, High-Fidelity, It’s a Wonderful Life, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Enemy at the Gates, A Life Less Ordinary, Office Space, Shaun of the Dead, Anything Monty Python, Princess Bride, Run Lola Run, This Is Spinal Tap... Music – FAR too many to list...but you should know...my desert island bands are...Blur, Radiohead, Beatles, Supergrass, Neil Diamond (oh yes) and Super Furry Animals. Books – I will admit I’m not a reader. For me it’s just laziness. But I do love anything by Chuck Palahniuk or Anne Rice. Best book I read not too long ago was Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides. LOVED that book! As a kid...Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein ruled the universe. Food: Thai, Sushi, Puerto Rican Rice and Beans, Tiramisu, Key Lime Pie, Dark Chocolate ANYthing. Fave candy...toss up between Reese’s Cups and Junior Mints. Random: I drive a manual car I hate spiders I was captain of my HS Quiz Bowl team I HATE dirty, unkempt fingernails I have only ever kissed 4 guys I wish I had studied abroad in college I have traveled to Costa Rica, England, Cancun (does this count?), Puerto Rico, San Francisco, NYC, Orlando, Boston and Phoenix I absolutely love to play games...card or the board type. Bowling, miniature golf and shooting pool are also enjoyable I have an amazing ability to focus on a task and tune things out I secretly dream of appearing on Jeopardy! I think that about covers it.
